Directorate General of Civil Aviation in Dhofar Governorate

Dhofar Office is responsible for representing CAA with other government entities in Dhofar with coordination with CAA's HQ.

  • Coordination with Directorate General of Air Navigation, Directorate General of Meteorology and Directorate General of Support Services in all technical aspects and apply the procedures issued by those entities
  • Air Navigation and Meteorological services in SLL to serve the development plans and programs in the Sultanate and supervision the operators inside within the airport, and to ensure compliance to the laws and regulations related to safety, security and environmental protection.

The Air Navigation Services Department is responsible for providing air navigation services in SLL as per the procedures and processes of ANS function, namely:

  • Approach
  • Tower
  • CNS line maintenance

The directorate is also responsible for reporting and coordinating technical ATM and CNS matters with ANS function on a daily basis

The Meteorological Services Department is responsible for:

  • Obtaining and enforcing Meteorological Services procedures and guidelines
  • Developing business relationships with potential customers in SLL and Dhofar Governorate
  • Monitoring weather conditions at SLL and preparing reports and warnings as necessary and coordinate with the concerned authorities
  • Collecting weather statistics and performing climate research in coordination with National Meteorological Services
  • Cooperating and coordinating with the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and following up with ICAO regarding meteorology affairs
  • Representing Oman and participating in the international conferences related to meteorology
  • Maintaining meteorology equipment in SLL
  • Managing meteorology employees in SLL

The Support Services Department is responsible for:

  • Applying the corporate support services policies, procedures and templates
  • Providing support activities to facilitate SLL operations, in coordination with the main Support Services function across the following functions: 
    • Employee Affairs
    • Finance
    • Information Technology
    • Technical Services
  • Handling employee affairs at SLL in a timely manner
  • Undertaking SLL accounting activities and communicating the same to main Finance function as per the defined guidelines
  • Leveraging state-of-the art technology innovations to streamline SLL
