Salalah Airport - The Southern Frontline for  Oman

 

Salalah Airport, inaugurated on 11 November 2015, is a key aviation hub strategically located in the Dhofar Governorate, an area experiencing significant tourism growth, particularly during the Khareef (monsoon) season. The airport currently has an annual capacity of 2 million passengers, with the potential to expand to 6 million in the future.


Spanning over 65,000 square metres, the airport was developed with a total investment of OMR 365 million. It is equipped with state-of-the-art systems and facilities to accommodate the world’s largest aircraft. To enhance the passenger experience, Salalah Airport offers 29 elevators, 13 escalators, and 8 passenger boarding bridges, along with 30 check-in counters and 10 departure gates.
The passenger terminal, covering 65,000 square metres, is designed to handle up to 2 million passengers annually. The airport also features a main runway measuring 4 kilometres in length and 75 metres in width, capable of accommodating the latest aircraft models.


Salalah Airport is home to a 57-metre-high air traffic control tower equipped with cutting-edge global technologies. The airport infrastructure includes 27 newly constructed buildings, such as an air traffic management facility, an IT centre, and a baggage handling section within the passenger terminal. The advanced baggage handling system features three dedicated conveyor belts for domestic and international flights. Additional amenities include a VIP lounge and parking facilities for 2,200 vehicles.
