Directorate General of Civil Aviation in Dhofar Governorate

The General Directorate of Civil Aviation in Dhofar Governorate provides the following services:

  • Representing the Civil Aviation Authority with government institutions in Dhofar Governorate after coordination with the relevant authorities within the Civil Aviation Authority.
  • Direct coordination with the General Directorate of Air Navigation, the General Directorate of Meteorology, and the General Directorate of Support Services regarding technical matters and the implementation of systems, procedures, and instructions issued by those directorates.
  • Coordinating the approval of training and qualification programs with those directorates.
  • Technical coordination with other administrative divisions within the Civil Aviation Authority to ensure the implementation of relevant instructions and procedures.
  • Operating navigation and meteorological services at Salalah Airport and throughout Dhofar Governorate to support development plans and programs in the Sultanate of Oman.
  • Supervising and managing the Civil Aviation Authority’s properties in Dhofar Governorate.
  • Supervising companies operating within the airport and ensuring their compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Air Navigation Department

  • The Air Navigation Department provides air navigation services in Dhofar Governorate according to the procedures and responsibilities of air navigation services, specifically:
    • Airport approach.
    • Tower services.
    • Maintenance of communication, navigation, and surveillance systems, ensuring the continuous flow of data.
    • Aeronautical information services.
  • Preparing reports and coordinating air traffic management, communication, navigation, and surveillance matters with the General Directorate of Air Navigation on a daily basis.

Meteorology Department

  • Receiving and implementing procedures and guidelines related to meteorological services.
  • Establishing working relationships with potential clients in Dhofar Governorate.
  • Monitoring weather conditions, preparing reports and warnings when necessary, and coordinating with relevant authorities.
  • Collecting and analysing statistical weather data and conducting climate research in coordination with national meteorological services.
  • Maintaining meteorological equipment in Dhofar Governorate and performing necessary maintenance.

Support Services Department

  • Implementing support services policies, procedures, and templates within the Civil Aviation Authority.
  • Establishing the support services budget for Dhofar Governorate.
  • Providing support for auxiliary activities to facilitate operations in Dhofar Governorate in coordination with the General Directorate of Support Services in the following areas:
    • Human capital
    • Finance
    • Information technology
    • Technical services
    • Managing accounting activities within the General Directorate of Civil Aviation in Dhofar Governorate according to established guidelines.
    • Leveraging the latest technological innovations to ensure that operations in the Dhofar Directorate align with the Authority’s guidelines.
