The Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) and relevant facilitations and security sectors participated in the Aviation Security Week 2018 events in Montreal, Canada, at the headquarters of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) from 26 to 30 November 2018. Global Aviation Security Symposium was held from 26 to 28 November 2018. A series of workshops were organized to discuss the latest developments related to civil aviation security by discussing the issues and benefiting from the exchange of experiences. The symposium focused on introducing best practices that would help countries to comply with the requirements of international civil aviation security through the strengthening of international cooperation and exchange of information.

Second High-level Conference on Aviation Security was held from 29 to 30 November 2018. The Conference was attended by senior government officials and stakeholders in the aviation sector, with the aim of formulating recommendations on priority-setting and key issues related to aviation security that would strengthen the Civil Aviation Security system through the effective implementation of the international and national aviation security requirements of each State.

The Conference also reviewed the progress made in the implementation of the Global Aviation Security Plan and the possible amendments to it based on the results of the Regional Aviation Security Conferences which took place during the years 2107-2018. These recommendations will be presented to the Board for approval and then to the General Assembly for approval during its fortieth session in 2019.

In this context, HE Dr. Mohamed Al-Zaabi / CEO of the PACA said that, the civil aviation security is one of the strategic objectives adopted by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to achieve a secure environment for aviation worldwide, and that the PACA continuing its seek to achieve the highest standards of security in line with international standards.

On the other hand, HE affirmed that the PACA is continuing to urge, assist and push airport administrations in the Sultanate and the parties that provide services to comply with the international and national requirements related to aviation security and facilities. He also added that the PACA keens to make every effort to maintain the efficiency of the aviation security system and keep abreast of the International variables in terms of forms of threat، technological development and the pursuit of pre-emptive thought rather than reaction thought.
