Conclusion of the National Awareness Campaign on the Risks of Climate Disturbances and Tsunami Waves in Dhofar Governorate
Today marked the conclusion of the national awareness campaign on the risks of climate disturbances and tsunami waves in Dhofar Governorate. This campaign was implemented by the National Committee for Emergency Management, the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority, the Ministry of Information, and the Civil Aviation Authority, in cooperation with the Governor's Office in Dhofar, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Social Development, and the Youth Center from September 29 to October 7, 2024.
The campaign, which spanned all districts of Dhofar Governorate, aimed to raise community awareness about preparedness for dealing with emergency risks and to promote safe actions during climate disturbances and tsunami waves. It included a variety of activities, such as seminars, field meetings, discussion sessions, in addition to a tsunami awareness drill that combined both theoretical and practical aspects.
The campaign successfully conveyed several important messages, including familiarity with mechanisms for dealing with climate disturbance risks and their impacts, awareness of the efforts of various sectors in handling climate disturbances, and the community's responsibility in educating others about safety guidelines during climate disturbances. It also emphasized the importance of sourcing information from reliable channels to avoid rumors and aimed to educate the school community on optimal responses to climate disturbances. The campaign received widespread engagement from citizens, residents, and students, contributing to the enhancement of public safety culture.
