The Sultanate of Oman Participates in the 20th Executive Committee Meeting for Civil Aviation of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Countries
The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Civil Aviation Authority, participated today, Tuesday, 17 September 2024, in the 20th Executive Committee Meeting for Civil Aviation of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, held in Doha, Qatar. The meeting aimed to discuss key issues related to civil aviation in the GCC and explore the best ways to enhance integration and cooperation to achieve common goals.
The meeting addressed several key topics, including the study of establishing the Gulf Civil Aviation Authority, the unified program for safety assessments of foreign aircraft operating at GCC airports, the mechanism for applying the blacklist, civil aviation security culture, and the achievements of GCC countries in air navigation and aviation. In addition, the strategy of the Air Navigation Committee was also discussed.
In his address on behalf of Oman, His Excellency Engineer Naif bin Ali Al-Abri, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority, emphasized that "the civil aviation sector is a fundamental pillar in achieving sustainable economic development for the Gulf countries." He added that the Civil Aviation Authority of Oman is always committed to supporting all initiatives that enhance cooperation and foster integration among GCC countries in the field of civil aviation.
