The introductory workshop titled "Third-Generation Satellite Data" organised by the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT) commenced today. The event, hosted by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) through the Centre of Excellence for Satellite Applications in Muscat, is being held in collaboration with the World Meteorological Organisation. It features the participation of 35 specialists from 17 countries across the Middle East and North Africa.

The workshop aims to train meteorological specialists in the region on interpreting and analysing third-generation satellite data, as well as to familiarise them with updates and operational applications of the data. These objectives will be achieved through lectures delivered by experts from the Sultanate of Oman.

Notably, the workshop spans five consecutive days (26–30 January 2025) and builds upon the online session held in December 2024.
